Alderdale's archive is a library and depository of special or historical documents and books. Most of these relate to the town and its surroundings, though there are also several written records of a wider scope.

The archive is maintained by Hale Woodrowe, and he is very good at his job, knowing a great deal about the history of Alderdale as well as much else.

Crow's Beak Tavern

The 'Beak', as it is generally known in short, is the largest of its kind in the town, offering food, drinks and rooms to rent. There is a large drinking room to the front which faces Market Street and to the side is another equally large wing that contains said rooms.

Winthrop Brooks manages and owns the Beak, and he is well respected in the town. Customers come from all around, but also from the nearby Wool Docks district where many workers are employed.

Flo's Market

Florence Merryweather runs this food and general goods store located in the southwest corner of the town square. It is a large premises and is well known for its roasted chicken special.

Growling Boar Inn

Betsy Mead runs this busy inn serving food and drink. Situated a short distance southeast of the town square and quite central to Alderdale it draws in customers from all around town.

Herbalist

This establishment is managed by Amara the head herbalist, with several assistants that tend to customers. Amara is mostly involved in creating her concoctions for sale. Whether you have sore eyes or an aching back, she will most assuredly have a treatment for you.

Limping Lizard Inn

The Limping Lizard sits close to the river on the northern bank of the River Wendling. It serves food and drink throughout the day and into the evening.

Edmund Hiltone looks after the patrons here who tend to be the wealthier inhabitants of Alderdale. Much of the patronage comes from the nearby guilds.

Old Fort

This ancient fort is in ruins now, but once served as a protective retreat in the days before the town became so large. It has a reputation for attracting undesirables, but the town watch tries to keep this old place safe to visit.

Smithy

The Smithy offers a wide range of metalwork and related services and goods. Piper Wells is in charge, and he can mend your armour as well as rustle up a fabulous spoon for your dinner table.

Town Hall

The town hall is an impressive building built of heavy stone and with a large set of steps rising up to a formidable pair of doors. Further steps to either side of the frontage lead to the office of the town watch and the clerk's office.

Most of the town's important decisions take place here and are overseen by the mayoress Ophelia, whose offices are to the rear of the building.

Town Square

Located on the south side of the River Wendling this large paved open space is often busy with shoppers attending the various stalls of the general market. On the east side stands the large town hall building and surrounding shops offer a wide variety of additional goods. In the centre of the square stands a large ornate water fountain.
